Giving Birth Far From Home
Giving birth far from home — without your mother, your sister, your oldest friend nearby — can feel isolating in ways that are hard to explain until you’re in it. The hospital system is unfamiliar. The cultural cues are different. And the people you’d normally lean on are thousands of miles away.
Doula support is not a luxury in that context. It is practical, emotional, and deeply personal care from someone who is entirely focused on you — someone who knows you, advocates for you, and stays with you. Not just a hand to hold, but a person who truly sees you during one of the most vulnerable and important experiences of your life.
Interest in physiological and natural birth is growing throughout Vietnam. More families are seeking maternity care that supports movement during labor, informed consent, delayed cord clamping, skin-to-skin contact and a less intervention-focused approach to birth.
I'm Anfisa
A doula with twelve years of experience supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. My home base is Bangkok, and over the years couples across Southeast Asia have reached out to me for support. I’ve had the joy of attending births in Vietnam — in both Saigon and Hanoi — and I now offer this as a dedicated service.
Vietnam is close. The flight is short. And if you feel a connection with me, distance is not a reason to say no to the support you deserve.

Birth Attendance & Support
I fly to you. I am present with you throughout your labor and birth, providing continuous physical, emotional, and informational support. You will not navigate this alone.
Postpartum Care
The days after birth matter as much as the birth itself. I offer postpartum visits to support your recovery, your transition into parenthood, and your confidence in those tender, overwhelming early days.
Breastfeeding Consultation
Whether you’re navigating latch difficulties, supply questions, or simply need reassurance that you’re doing it right — I provide hands-on, warm, judgment-free breastfeeding support.

About Me
I’ve been walking alongside families during one of life’s most profound experiences for twelve years. I began my doula journey in Europe, where I trained and built my practice before relocating to Bangkok — a city that became my home and the heart of my work.
Over the past decade in Bangkok, I’ve supported hundreds of families: first-time parents navigating the unknown, experienced mothers wanting a different kind of birth, expat couples far from their own families, and everyone in between.
Many of my clients are expats — far from their mothers, sisters, and childhood friends. I understand what it means to build a life in a country that isn’t where you grew up, and I know how much it matters to have someone truly in your corner when you’re about to become a parent. A doula fills that gap in a way that goes beyond the practical. I am your continuous, familiar presence — someone who knows your story, your fears, and your hopes before you ever set foot in that delivery room.
When couples in Vietnam began reaching out to me through Instagram, I didn’t want to say no. I’ve now supported births in both Saigon and Hanoi, and every experience has confirmed what I believe: that this kind of support should be available to families wherever they are.
Birth is not a medical event to be managed. It is a human experience to be honored. My role is to help you feel informed, confident, and held — before, during, and after your baby arrives.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes — this is a dedicated service I offer. Once we’ve agreed to work together, I book my travel around your estimated due date and build buffer time in on either side. We plan the logistics carefully together, well in advance.
Early labor typically gives us time. As your due date approaches we stay in very close communication, and I am ready to travel at short notice. We discuss a clear, specific plan for this scenario when we begin working together — so neither of us is caught off guard.
I don’t speak Vietnamese fluently, but this has never been a barrier. My clients in Vietnam communicate with me in English, and I work comfortably alongside local medical teams regardless of language.
The majority of prenatal preparation happens over video call, which works beautifully. I then travel to Vietnam for your birth and for any in-person postpartum visits we’ve planned together.
Expat couples, mixed-nationality families, and Vietnamese families who found me and felt a connection. If you’re looking for continuous, personal, one-on-one support from someone who will truly know you by the time your baby arrives — we’re likely a good fit.
As early as you can — ideally during your second trimester. This gives us time to build a real relationship, complete your prenatal preparation together, and plan my travel without any stress. That said, don’t hesitate to reach out even if your due date is closer than that.
Anfisa flew from Bangkok to be with us in Saigon and it was the best decision we made. She was calm, warm, and exactly what I needed in the room. As expats with no family nearby, knowing she was coming gave me so much peace of mind throughout my whole pregnancy. I truly could not have done it without her.
Sophie M., Saigon
We did our prenatal classes with Anfisa over video and then she came to Hanoi for the birth. Everything was seamless — she thought of everything we hadn’t. She made us feel like we weren’t doing this alone, even though we were so far from home.
Linh & David T., Hanoi
I was nervous about hiring a doula who was based in another country, but Anfisa put every concern to rest from our very first call. She became part of our birth story in the most beautiful way.
Emma R., Saigon
